Things to do in Seattle

1. Gaming Centers
   Tthere are several "gaming centers" in King County. These have features like laser tag, mini-golf, bumper boats, video games, air hockey, climbing walls, etc. Check out the web sites for each one to see what they have. These places can accomodate groups of any size, and you can go there with or without children. Gameworks (Seattle), Family Fun Center (Renton-Tukwila), Illusionz (Issaquah)
   
   
2. Snoqualmie Falls
   This is a gorgeous waterfall, is only about 15 miles east of Bellevue. It can be romantic, especially if you go late and sneak in. ;) These Falls made an appearance in the TV show Twin Peaks. It has been important to local Native Americans as far back as their stories go. It's thundering plunge off ancient cliffs is spectacular.
   
   
3. Riding the Ferry
   There are ferry boats all over the place. If you just walk on, it is fairly inexpensive to ride them. You can park at the terminal or bus there. I have had friends who used to ride teh late night ferries and play cardgames on the quiet, well lit tables. You can choose the route you want, based on how much time you want to take, get off and on again at the other side. Good places for scenery, talking, games etc.
   
   
4. The Improvisational Cooking Game
   This is an activity I made up and have done with several friends now. We go to a grocery store together and pick out a couple of challenge ingredients for each other. Ingredients that we have to turn into a dish. We present each other with these ingredients, then continue shopping for whatever else we will need to make the improvised meal. You can pick the store based on the experience and daring of the cooks involved. You can use a regular supermarket, or you can choose an ethnic, gourmet or quirky store. Enjoy!
   
   
5. Jet City Improv
   Improvisational comedy, you know, like "Whose line is it anyway?"
   
   
6. Smoke Free Seattle
   This is a list of smoke-free entertainment venues and restaurants.
   
   
7. Farmer's Market's
   If you are into fresh, usually inexpensive produce and flowers, this will be something you like. There are Farmer's market's going on every day of the week in summer, all over King County. The link is to a calendar and locations of them.
   
   
8. Disc Golf Courses in Washington
   Want to trapse around in nature? Here's an excuse.
   
   
9. Rent a canoe or rowboat at the University of Washington at the Water Activity Center.
   You don't have to be a student. You can go to a variety of places, including through the arboretium.
   
   
10. Canoeing or Kayaking in Renton (Lake Washington & Cedar River). Pretty and peaceful. I've done this one, and enjoyed it. You get to spy in Boeing buildings, wildlife aplenty!
    
    
11. Sea Kayaking: lessons and day trips.
    
    
12. At the time of this writing the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame is just opening.
    It is very cool. It is part of the Experience Music Project, though admission is separate. While you are at EMP, try the TurnTable restaurant, it has awesome food for some reason.
    
    
13. Tubs of Seattle.
    You can rent a room with a private hot tub in it for you and/or your group. If you don't have oen of your own, this is the next best thing. Soak it up! They will call on a phone into the room when your hour is up, and you can buy extra time if you want to.
    
    
14. Women only activity:
    There are 2 day spas that I know of. One is on Capitol Hill, Hot House Women's Spa and Massage, and Olympus Women's Health Club in Lakewood and Lynnwood. Olympus is a Korean-style women's spa. They have all sorts of hot tubs, basking rooms, massages, body wraps, facials, manicures etc. They are reasonably priced, and you can just buy what you want. Personally I just like going there and relaxing, without any of the special pampery bits.
    
    
15. Day Trip: This is not in the metro area, but is is doable on a weekend day. Horseback riding at Ocean Shores! The Nan-Sea stables has wooded and beach rides, as well as a sunset beach ride. You can also board your own horses there if you happen to have some. For the rest of us, you can rent a trusty steed.
    
    
16. How about some camping?
    Maybe you want to get away from the urban excitement a little while? Here's a list of Washington state campgrounds.
    
    
17. While we are on the subject of nature, How about a visit to Northwest Trek Wildlife Park?
    It is south of Tacoma, still in Pierce County. There web page is more detailed, but it says the wildlife is not caged.
    
    
18. Or, if you have a specific interest in wolves, you could go to Wolf Haven International who are "working for wolf conservation" by: protecting our wild wolves; providing sanctuary for captive-born wolves; promoting wolf restoration in historic ranges; and educating the public on the value of all wildlife."
    
    
19. Unless your tastes are a little lower to the ground, in which case you could visit Reptile Man, The Serpentarium is located 1 mile east of Monroe on Hwy 2 and claims to have the most extensive collection of reptiles in the Pacific Northwest... and be have the 10 Deadliest Snakes and other reptiles and critters.
